Our Services

IPv6 migration is not a settings change

IPv4 addresses have run out; new connections, mobile operators and cloud services increasingly talk over IPv6. But the migration is not a matter of ticking a box on devices: if the address plan, routing, security rules and application compatibility are not handled together, it opens invisible problems in the network. We analyze your existing setup and build a design in which the two protocols run side by side safely.

Why Now

The invisible cost of postponing

Postponing IPv6 seems not to cause problems today; the problem generally comes from an unexpected place.

Users who cannot reach you

Users on mobile networks given only IPv6 reach your service only through intermediate translators; performance and traceability drop.

IPv6 opened without control

Many operating systems have IPv6 on by default. Unplanned IPv6 traffic can bypass security rules written for IPv4.

Growth without an address plan

Address plans corrected later leave a mess in VLANs and routing that drags on for years.

Knowledge with one person

When the person who did the migration leaves, the structure becomes a box nobody understands; without documentation, maintenance cannot be done either.

What We Do

From analysis to delivery

The consulting process is completed with the documents you are left with at the end.

Existing network analysis

We scan your IPv4 infrastructure and identify bottlenecks and risks; no surprises are left for the planning stage.

  • Topology and addressing inventory
  • Device and software compatibility scan
  • Detection of IPv6 traffic that is already open

Migration plan and design

We design the dual-stack structure, in which IPv4 and IPv6 run side by side, according to your organization.

  • Addressing strategy and subnet plan
  • VLAN architecture and routing
  • BGP scenarios

Compatibility and coordination

We check IPv6 support on the software, hardware and service provider side and conduct the correspondence on your behalf.

  • Coordination of IPv6 blocks and routing with the ISP
  • Compatibility checks with manufacturers and software companies
  • IPv6 counterparts of firewall rules

Team training

We give your network administrators and technical team hands-on IPv6 training.

  • Addressing and routing
  • Security and transition technologies
  • Hands-on lab work

Reporting and documentation

At the end of the process the structure is delivered documented; knowledge does not stay with one person.

  • Detailed network topology
  • Address plan and configuration reports
  • Organization-specific technical document (PDF) and diagrams

Implementation and verification

The plan does not stay on paper; putting it into service and the verification afterwards are part of the process too.

  • Phased rollout
  • Availability and performance tests
  • Rollback plan
How We Work

Not a call center, the team that does the work

We are not a provider that sells mass packages. We work with a small number of organizations, getting to know their setup. The feedback we hear most is this: "When we call, we reach the technical team without waiting."

You reach the technical team directly

There is no ticket queue, no operator reading from a script, no "I passed it on to the relevant department" answer. You reach the colleague who knows the subject and talk through the solution with them.

A team that knows your organization

You don't have to explain your system from scratch every time. Whoever set up your server is the one who looks at it when a problem occurs, and they approach it knowing its history.

Not a ready-made package, a setup built around you

If your need doesn't fit a standard package, we change the setup, not the package. As a team that has been in the field for years, we design the solution around your process.

Help

Frequently asked questions

Will we have to turn off IPv4?
No. The target is a dual-stack structure: IPv4 and IPv6 run at the same time. Your users and applications use whichever protocol they support. Turning off IPv4 comes up only at a very advanced stage and if a need arises.
Do our existing devices support IPv6?
This is exactly what we work out in the analysis stage. Besides routers, firewalls, switches and servers, we check IPv6 support of the software you use. If a component does not support it, we describe a suitable path for it in the migration plan.
Will our network be interrupted during the transition?
That is the advantage of the dual-stack approach: IPv6 is brought into service gradually, without breaking existing IPv4 traffic. Critical steps are done in a maintenance window and a rollback plan is prepared for each stage.
How will we get an IPv6 address block?
You can proceed with a block allocated by your service provider; if an independent block is needed for your organization, we support the RIPE NCC processes on the technical side. Which option is suitable varies with your network size and need for independence.
What changes on the security side?
The habit of hiding behind NAT disappears in IPv6; addresses are directly routable. For this reason, writing the IPv6 counterparts of firewall rules is essential. Also, IPv6 is on by default in most operating systems: in an unplanned setup, this means an unmonitored traffic path. In the analysis it is one of the first things we check.
Is the training given separately?
Hands-on training can be given to your team as part of the consulting; it can also be organized as an independent training program. By the end of the training the team will have seen transition technologies hands-on, from addressing and routing to security.
